  • On New Year's Eve, ADOT & DPS rescued a dog near an I-10 entrance on 83rd Avenue, reuniting it with its family after a freeway camera spotted it. Officials urge residents to call 911 if they see an animal near the freeway instead of trying to capture it.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Residents in Rio Verde Foothills now can refill water at the new station built by EPCOR Utilities, which offers service daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. after nearly 10 months without a permanent source; the access price is $75 a month + 16 cents per gallon for approved residents.  KJZZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Arizona reported on Friday that statewide gas prices dropped 2 cents to $3.03 per gallon. In Scottsdale, prices remain highest at $3.22 while Peoria and West Valley see lower rates, and spokesperson Julian Paredes expects market conditions to stay steady until refineries switch blends next month.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Banner Health asks Scottsdale City Council to support a rezoning for a new hospital with heliport at a $400 million medical campus planned near N. Hayden Road and Loop 101. The project, promising 2,500 jobs, faces local opposition and will be reviewed on Jan. 14.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scottsdale Recovery Center received a $150,000 Homes for Heroes grant in November to expand treatment for unhoused veterans facing substance abuse and mental health needs.   • HonorHealth earned the 2025 Wellbeing First Champion designation from ALL IN — Wellbeing First for Healthcare, recognizing its efforts to support physicians' and advanced practice providers’ mental health by removing intrusive licensing questions.
