  • Former P.F. Chang's chef Darrell Ngo is set to open Ni Hao Bao Dumpling House at 9301 E. Shea Blvd., Suite 105 in Scottsdale. The fast-casual restaurant (with a dog-friendly patio) will host a grand opening celebration on Friday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. and serve bao buns, dumplings and boba tea.  The Arizona Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arizona Concours d’Elegance returns on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the Scottsdale Civic Center as its eighth edition, showcasing 100 rare vehicles from around the world. Proceeds benefit local art programs and Make-A-Wish Arizona — tickets are $100 with discounted rates for students, military and children.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Phoenix Chorale will perform TRANSCENDENCE at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (7380 E. Second Street) with a choir and full orchestra on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m., featuring the U.S. premiere of Rebecca Dale’s 'When Music Sounds.'  Scottsdale Independent
  • Scottsdale artist Mark Lewanski will showcase his glass sculptures at the Arizona Fine Art EXPO from Jan. 16 - March 29 at a tent on the corner of Jomax and North Scottsdale Road. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Scottsdale was rated the best city for jobs in 2026 in a WalletHub study released Tuesday. The study compared 182 U.S. cities on job market and socio-economics — giving Scottsdale a score of 66.71 and one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates.  KTAR

FINANCE NEWS

  • A Lending Tree study shows that a speeding ticket raises auto insurance premiums by an average of $1,071.41 per year in Arizona (the highest increase in the nation) and drivers may lower future costs by taking defensive driving courses or increasing their deductibles.  The Arizona Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SRP will dry up the canal from 68th Street to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community from Jan. 8 to Feb. 7 to replace an underground pipeline, clear debris, and fix storm damage, and the adjacent walk and bike path will be closed while water deliveries remain unaffected.  Scottsdale Independent
