  • UMOM New Day Centers has received a $1.5M grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation to expand shelter and service programs for homeless families, with funding spread over three years to reduce waitlists in the community.  Scottsdale Independent

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Salad and Go announced Wednesday that it will close 32 stores in Texas and Oklahoma and its Dallas headquarters, planning to focus on expanding its presence in Arizona.  ABC15 Arizona

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Seven Scottsdale students earned a spot on Southern New Hampshire University’s president’s list after achieving a minimum GPA of 3.7 during fall 2025. They met full-time requirements by completing at least 12 credits per term + were recognized for their academic excellence.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Arizona First Responders Foundation (founded by retired Scottsdale firefighter Adam Shuckhart) has been awarded a $15K grant from Arizona Financial Foundation’s Local Causes Visa debit card program to expand mental health training and crisis intervention for first responders. It is among 18 nonprofits receiving $800K in grants since 2020.  Scottsdale Independent

  • ASU women's basketball bounced back on Wednesday at Desert Financial Arena with a 68-45 win over UCF after its first loss, with Carrera scoring 20 points and Brackens recording a double-double while Coach Molly Miller credited the team for a quick mindset shift following their BYU loss.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Diamondbacks locked in 2026 salaries with eight arbitration-eligible players on Jan. 8, avoiding an arbitration hearing. The deals range from $1.525 million to $3.95 million and secure the roster for the season.  The Arizona Republic
