  • Rabbi Stephen Kahn, senior rabbi at Congregation Beth Israel in Scottsdale, has built his 30-year career on authenticity and partnership — leading a community focused on shared vision. A gala to celebrate his milestone service is set for March 28 as he strengthens the synagogue’s endowment and mentors future leaders.  Scottsdale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Internationally known artist Andrea de Kerpely-Zak is exhibiting her Valentine’s romantic floral series at Gallery Andrea in Old Town Scottsdale through Feb. 20. EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a Feb. 2 public hearing, Scottsdale Unified School District staff recommended shifting neighborhoods once served by Pima Elementary to Hohokam and Yavapai elementary schools next year—an effort to optimize capacity and maintain ties with the Coronado High School learning community—and the board will decide on the proposal Feb. 10.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Last week, Gov. Katie Hobbs traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with water officials and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum about Colorado River negotiations amid a dry snowpack and low reservoir levels—Lake Powell is at 27% and Lake Mead at 33% capacity—as Upper Basin reservoirs hold more water.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Banner Health became the first system to complete a minimally invasive heart valve repair using Valcare’s AMEND ring that treats mitral regurgitation causing fatigue and shortness of breath + Dr. Sorajja and Dr. Rizik led the procedure while a study will follow patients' progress for five years.  Scottsdale Independent

  • The Phoenician Resort has introduced The Villas at Canyon Suites, a series of private, residential-style villas featuring home-like amenities and exclusive pools. The villas, ranging from 2,500 to 3,450 sqft (designed for multigenerational families), opened on Jan. 29 and are already popular among guests.  The Arizona Republic
