BUSINESS NEWS

  • Arizona Sports Medicine Center is building a 34,000 sqft flagship facility in Scottsdale at Sierra Bloom (a 43-acre campus) where providers will continue seeing patients during construction. The project began in October, with a topping-out celebration planned for March and completion expected in the third quarter.  Arizona Digital Free Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ash Wednesday is set for Feb. 18 as it marks the start of Lent for Catholics attending local churches to receive ashes and observe fasting. The ashes are made from blessed palms and serve as a sign of humility and renewal.  The Arizona Republic

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Seventh grader Camden Hernandez (from Desert Canyon Middle School) won the SUSD Spelling Bee Championship by outlasting 23 competitors. His win earns him a spot at the regional bee on Feb. 9, where he will face five other district students.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scottsdale now bans riders under 16 from using Class 3 e-bikes on city property + sellers must post clear age restrictions. Other Valley cities are adjusting rules amid rising teen citations and injuries, and experts call for training courses to help families use e-bikes safely.  Arizona Digital Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tickets are on sale for the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale where top golfers will compete from today through Sunday. Buyers have general admission or premium Hole 16 Skybox options, with Thursday tickets starting at $98 and higher-tier offerings available later in the week.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Winter Olympics 2026 in Italy begin on Friday, Feb. 6 with events like skiing, snowboarding, and hockey at Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium.
