CULTURE NEWS

  • Erin Naas, a former Victoria’s Secret model and Arabian horse breeder, will serve as ambassador for the Global Champions Arabians Tour at WestWorld from Feb. 13 to Feb. 15. Naas will support guests (including sponsors and competitors) to showcase elite Arabian horses at the event.  City Sun Times
  • Western Spirit Museum will unveil a major expansion funded by Louis 'Buzz' Sands that adds 12,000 sqft for new exhibits (including the inaugural Eddie Basha Collection) with a weeklong cultural celebration from March 24 through 29 at 3830 N.   • Scottsdale Arts offers a varied lineup this February at local venues (including the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art); events feature Cheyenne Jackson’s concert on Feb. 1, a sound bath on Feb. 12, and a swing show on Feb. 13 to bring live music, comedy, and yoga to the community.  Arizona Digital Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Grand Canyon University and TSMC formed a partnership to launch an 11-week manufacturing specialist program for technicians at the TSMC Arizona facility (industry-funded). The first class finished in September 2025 with 70% job placements, and the program will be expanded to include more high school students and other job seekers.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Trevor Fong, a Scottsdale native, earned a 4.0 GPA in fall 2025 and was named to the University of Arkansas chancellor’s list after completing 12 credit hours for graduation, officials said.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Scottsdale Community College launched the Bridge2Bachelor’s program to help students transition from workforce training to a bachelor’s degree. The initiative lets candidates who complete an Associate of Applied Science transfer credits for an affordable BBA — with initial pathways in hospitality management and culinary arts.  Arizona Digital Free Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • WM Phoenix Open has been the largest zero-waste sporting event for 13 years, recycling 930 tons of material, 12,000 pounds of glass and 150 tons of building materials in 2025. The event shows Scottsdale's strong commitment to recycling and sustainability.  ABC15 Arizona

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes reached an $11.8M settlement with Choice Home Warranty, a New Jersey-based firm accused of misrepresenting home warranty coverage to local homeowners. The agreement requires changes to their sales practices + may provide restitution for eligible policyholders.  KJZZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Scottsdale homebuyers face a shifting market with rising inventory and longer listing times (currently 99 days) that give them more room to choose. TruWest Mortgage Loan Originator Katherine Sciascia noted buyers here typically make higher down payments, which eases their path despite costly homes.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Veteran first baseman Carlos Santana was signed on Feb. 10 to boost the Diamondbacks' defense and reported to spring training that day. He will platoon with Pavin Smith and join Marte and Perdomo at the World Baseball Classic in March as the team strengthens its lineup.  The Arizona Republic
