  • Alpha Scottsdale, an AI school that opened four months ago at 20624 N. 76th St. (near Grayhawk Golf Club and HonorHealth Thompson Peak Medical Center), uses guided one-on-one tutoring with two-hour condensed classes and life skills workshops; this week students launched a food truck project.  East Valley Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Katie Hobbs ordered flags to be lowered at all state buildings today from sunrise to sunset to honor two DPS crewmembers who died in a helicopter crash on Feb. 4, with interment ceremonies scheduled as part of the tribute.  The Arizona Republic

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Following reports that doorbell cameras briefly send footage to the cloud, experts advise Scottsdale residents to secure their home cameras with strong passwords and updated settings. They also suggest covering laptop cameras (if it helps you feel safer) and using official apps to prevent unauthorized access.  The Arizona Republic

  • The Arizona State women's basketball team hosts BYU on Feb. 25 at Desert Financial Arena for their final home game. The matchup could spark postseason hopes as the team pursues a spot in the NCAA Tournament.  The Arizona Republic
  • Diamondbacks pitcher Ryan Thompson was hit by a batted ball during live practice on Feb. 22 at Salt River Fields but said he was fine, while Drey Jameson reported his fastball reached 97-100 mph with 20 inches of vertical movement – a boost following two seasons missed.  The Arizona Republic
