  • Valley organizations (Honoring America's Veterans, Project Valor, The Patriot Dog Training Behavioral Academy and the Phoenix Legacy Foundation) have partnered to offer a highly trained service dog to a deserving veteran with applications closing on March 14.  ABC15 Arizona

CULTURE NEWS

  • Arizona's escaramuza tradition thrives with a record 10 teams now federated statewide. Gabriela Lugo, a champion overcoming early setbacks, trains and competes nationally, fueling pride and cultural identity among local riders.  The Arizona Republic
  • Arizona Bike Week will return to Scottsdale this spring from Wednesday, April 8 to Sunday, April 12 at WestWorld and the HellRacer Dome. The event features races, stunt shows, flat track contests and concerts (including electric unicycle racing) for riders and fans.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • Gas prices have risen after global oil supply issues from the Iran conflict affected Phoenix, and local drivers could soon feel the pinch. AAA advises saving fuel with measures—like slowing down and checking tire pressure—to manage rising costs.  KJZZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Saturday, April 18, Desert Ridge Marketplace will host the Scottsdale Children’s Business Fair from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. where kids can showcase their ideas at one of up to 50 booths; applicants must bring their own table setup and pay an extra $10 for electricity.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scottsdale City Council approved a new program to provide early cancer screening for firefighters. The program will use advanced tests — whole-body MRI, lung CT scans, blood tests, and skin exams — to help detect cancer sooner than traditional methods.  Scottsdale Independent
