  • The Scottsdale Leadership Class 40 fundraiser is held today at the Walter Hive, 6435 E. Thomas Road, where guests can enjoy art, appetizers, beverages and live music to benefit the nonprofit’s Digital Design Lab. LA-raised artist Pablo Damas will paint live and donate his artwork to boost fundraising.  Scottsdale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale City Council approved a $6.3 million funding package for Scottsdale Arts on Feb. 24 that splits $3.5 million for management services and $2.8 million for specific arts programs—contract revisions that add oversight and shorten the term sparked debate. The nonprofit continues to host popular events like concerts and talks.  Scottsdale Progress
  • Arizona Bike Week will run (Wed, Apr. 8-Sun, Apr. 12) at WestWorld of Scottsdale, featuring six bike shows with custom, vintage, and youth builds plus live music and stunt shows. Tickets include single-day and rally passes with free vendor admission until 5 p.m.  City Sun Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Scottsdale Unified School District board voted on March 10 to repurpose Pima Elementary School as a Level D special education center for K-12 students next school year. The board also decided not to convert Echo Canyon into a community education and early childhood school.  Scottsdale Independent
