  • On Wednesday night, about 200 Salt River Pima-Maricopa community members gathered on a high school football field to light candles for Passion Schurz, a 28-year-old woman whose body was recovered from a Scottsdale canal last Saturday; they shared memories and rallied to support her grieving family + children.  ABC15 Arizona
  • Scottsdale REALTORS will host its fifth annual Fair Housing Symposium on April 28. Dr. Stephen Berrey (associate professor at the University of Michigan and director of the Sundown Towns Project) will deliver the keynote and discuss how historic exclusion affects welcoming communities.  Scottsdale Independent

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that as of March 31, 2026, Arizona’s regular gasoline averaged $4.682 per gallon, near the June 2022 record when prices reached $5.388 statewide & $5.726 in Scottsdale. Supply disruptions after a shutdown in the Strait of Hormuz have kept fuel costs high.  The Arizona Republic

  • Diamondbacks third baseman José Fernandez hit two home runs in his major league debut on Tuesday night, helping lift the team to a 7-5 win over the Tigers. He became only the seventh player since 1900 to record two homers in his first game.  Scottsdale Independent
