- ➤ Lucid Group announced it will buy Nikola’s old facilities in Coolidge and Phoenix and, if approved by the bankruptcy court, offer jobs to more than 300 displaced workers—expanding its Arizona operations as it gears up to produce a new electric SUV. The Arizona Republic
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale Unified is hosting a bus driver hiring event today at Pima Elementary on Osborn Road from 8:00 a.m. to noon for anyone with a safe driving record and five years of regular driving experience. New hires will get paid training on-site to earn a CDL and the district is also hiring mechanics and bus aides (applicants can test drive a bus without previous experience). KJZZ
- ➤ Scottsdale Unified School District approved the Conductive Education Center of Arizona to move to the Cholla Campus to offer special education for children with neurological motor disabilities. The center will use personalized teaching methods and a low student-to-staff ratio — helping each student learn important skills. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ The Scottsdale Mayor’s Youth Council will host a free interactive town hall on April 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at ASU SkySong (1475 N. Scottsdale Road, Building 1, Global Room 201) where high school students will gain life skills through breakout sessions on nutrition, financial literacy, and college and career success. - ➤ Construction workers have closed southbound State Route 143 and parts of Loop 101 for improvements from April 11th through April 14th — causing delays for drivers near Sky Harbor Airport. Motorists are urged to allow extra time and follow detour instructions to avoid the affected routes. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ The Arizona House passed a bill on Thursday that lets Axon build a new headquarters, hotel, and nearly 2,000 apartments in Scottsdale, canceling a local vote that had gathered 26,000 signatures. The measure passed by a vote of 40(19) and now moves to the Senate. Scottsdale Independent
