Good morning, Scottsdale.
On Friday, May 9, Mesquite Fresh Street Mex in Old Town Scottsdale will donate 15% of proceeds from in-store and online orders—supporting the Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund that helps fund new equipment and clinical services—according to a press release.
Dorothy Pratt sold her long-time home on Third Street after calling police 20 times over noisy short-term rental parties that disrupted her neighborhood—she said the rowdy behavior forced her to leave Scottsdale.
She has since moved to the Oregon coast seeking a quieter life.
Scottsdale police used a new task force led by Sgt. Eric Bolles to respond to noise complaints from short-term rental parties, including hibachi events that stirred disturbances late into the night.
City leaders noted that while nuisance calls have sometimes dropped, short-term rentals remain a challenge as high tourist demand keeps rental activity steady — an issue they continue to manage.
A six-mile stretch on Loop 101 in north Scottsdale closed at 10 p.m. April 11 and will reopen at 8 p.m. today as part of a widening project to improve traffic flow.
The project will add lanes and update ramps and is set to continue until 2026 — drivers should use alternate routes like southbound State Route 51 with eastbound Shea Boulevard to stay on course.
Saturday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to send in the winning run during a five-run ninth inning.
