- ➤ Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new indoor train-themed playground and splashpad scheduled to open in July as part of a $13.1 million project funded by bonds approved in 2019. The park also will feature a redesigned entry plaza at Stillman Station with seating, plants, public art, new restrooms, pathways & exterior lighting. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ IKEA will open its Plan & Order Point at The Promenade Scottsdale this spring, where customers can meet with team members to plan and order home furnishings in a 2000-square-foot space. - ➤ The Arizona Game and Fish Department has more than 100 rescued Sonoran desert tortoises in custody that cannot survive in the wild and are now offered for adoption under a revived state program. Tegan Wolf from the Desert Tortoise Adoption program said the reptiles face risks like mycoplasma (a contagious respiratory disease) and have shown they can bond with new owners. KJZZ

- ➤ Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton appointed Jeff Walther as assistant city manager and Joe LeDuc as police chief; both had served in interim roles since Jan. 27.
