CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Arts will wrap up its 2024–25 season with eight events in May and June that include recurring Glow Up @ SMoCA yoga sessions, a summer solstice Glow Up on June 20 led by Melinda Milton in James Turrell's Knight Rise Skyspace, and live shows on May 31 and June 22 featuring The War And Treaty and Mary Chapin Carpenter with Brandy Clark. New summer exhibitions at SMoCA include Squidsoup: Infinite, Life on Mars and Michael Asfa: Suburban Paradise (the events offer a varied cultural lineup).  Scottsdale Independent
  • The Scottsdale Jazz Festival will launch Jazz Appreciation Month with an opening night concert on April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West—featuring an educational session about Russell Big Chief Moore by his great nephew Jacob Moore and a performance by Doc Jones and Friends—and it will conclude on April 26 at the Scottsdale Civic Center with a showcase by Rick Braun and Richard Elliot.  Scottsdale Independent

  • In Q1 2025, new data from Morning Consult showed that consumer confidence in the Valley reached an index score of 100—only the second time in five years, with the last positive reading in Q2 2021. The launch of the Metropolitan Consumer Sentiment Index by American City Business Journals indicates residents are upbeat on finances while remaining cautious about long-term business conditions.  ABC15 Arizona
  • A Circle K in Scottsdale sold a winning Triple Twist lottery ticket worth $1,673,418 — purchased Friday at 4101 N. Hayden Road —, Arizona Lottery officials said. Quick Corner Liquor and Drive in Phoenix sold a Fast Play Space Invaders Cash Invasion ticket for $50,000 on Saturday.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona drivers must have a Real ID by May 7 to board a plane and enter federal facilities, so check your license for a gold or black star in the upper right corner. Applicants can get an Arizona Travel ID (costing $25 and valid for eight years) at state motor vehicle offices and approved third-party locations.  The Arizona Republic

HEALTH NEWS

  • Delta Dental of Arizona and PDS Health are launching a 12-month study today to show how dental offices can spot diabetes risks by offering free HbA1c tests, which will help patients get early care. About 1,500 patients in seven dental practices will be screened — those with high readings will receive a follow-up test to monitor changes.  Arizona Digital Free Press
