- ➤ IKEA will open its new Plan — Order Point at The Promenade in Scottsdale on May 7 at 9:40 a.m. The smaller store will let customers explore showrooms and work with staff in a 2,000-square-foot space to plan and order home furnishings. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ Minimalist sculptor and photographer Michael Afsa will open his first museum exhibition, Suburban Paradise, at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art at 7374 E. Second St. on June 14 and it will run until Sept. 14—showing his work made from common Southwestern materials to highlight the quiet beauty of the local desert. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ A new study from UCLA’s Latino Data Hub found that Latino workers in Arizona face a higher risk of job loss due to automation—38% hold high-risk positions compared to 30% of workers overall. The study said that workers in Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma must gain new skills through education and job training—helping them move into safer, higher-paying roles. The Arizona Republic

- ➤ Hospice of the Valley held its 2025 art auction last evening at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn, raising a record $800,000, including $300,000 for the New Song Center for Grieving Children (a program that offers free grief support to families). Nearly 500 guests bid on art, jewelry, trips, and exclusive prizes to help the nonprofit continue caring for patients and families. City Sun Times
- ➤ Westminster Village in Scottsdale reported a 72% drop in resident falls after installing Paul, an AI virtual caregiver that uses radar & alerts staff to early changes in behavior while protecting privacy.
