GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed a proposal by Sen. David Farnsworth to strip funding from state colleges offering diversity, equity and inclusion courses — she also rejected 22 other proposals, bringing her total vetoes to 75 this session and arguing that cutting funds would hurt Arizona’s workforce and economy.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center is nearing the end of its 'A to Z and Everywhere in Between' capital campaign to raise $13 million for four new facilities in the East Valley, West Valley, north Phoenix/north Scottsdale area, Flagstaff & Tucson; it has already raised $12 million and plans to open nine campuses by 2030.  Scottsdale Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • Scottsdale private golf course Desert Highlands closed on Monday for a $10 million restoration project that is updating hole design, turf, bunkers and landscaping — work aimed to modernize the club while preserving its legacy. The Jack Nicklaus course, which first opened in 1983, will reopen for play in November.  KTAR
