  • The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its History Hall of Fame induction ceremony on May 15 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort (5001 N. Scottsdale Road) to honor local leaders and community partners who have shaped the city’s growth.  Scottsdale Progress
  • The Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association will host the Fiesta Dog Shows at WestWorld of Scottsdale on May 9 and May 10 starting at 8 a.m. each day, where hundreds of dogs and owners will parade and compete in the show ring.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Scottsdale Arts has opened Visions ’26, an exhibition (featuring 40 Valley high school students) at Center Space gallery inside Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts that shows art created through a yearlong mentorship with local artists.  Arizona Digital Free Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local experts warn that a ‘super El Niño’ will trigger heavy monsoon storms + more hot and moist days for Scottsdale this summer as temperatures hit the high triple digits. Residents should prepare for brief bouts of heavy rain following intense heat.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Scottsdale fertility bank launched its Give and Receive program that lets women donate eggs while freezing half for personal use — an approach meant to ease egg freezing costs at $10,000 — $20,000. The initiative, introduced this year, offers new fertility options for women balancing career and future plans.  ABC15 Arizona
  • During the week of April 13, health inspectors visited 1,370 food-serving facilities across metro Phoenix and cited eight restaurants for violations (including hair in food and inadequate sanitation), with local Yod Thai Eatery in Scottsdale among those noted.  The Arizona Republic

  • A recent ABC15 report shows that apartment rents in the Valley have dropped to about $1,500 while house rents have risen above $2,300 — overall average rent now is $1,735, which is $18 lower than last year and $23 below the peak. Trends began in 2022.  ABC15 Arizona
