- ➤ Gas prices in the Valley rose 16 cents to $4.94 a gallon this week due to Middle East tensions, up from $3.43 last year + the statewide average reached $4.84 after gaining 17 cents. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ Scottsdale Unified School District confirmed it was not affected by the Canvas ransomware attack earlier this week because the district procured but did not yet implement the software. District spokeswoman Cymphanie Sherman said (via email) that no staff or student data syncs have occurred. Scottsdale Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arizona, California and Nevada announced a temporary water-saving plan to cut water use from the Colorado River to preserve reservoirs through 2028. Federal and state reviews will follow as local providers plan adjustments for agriculture and city water supplies in the Lower Basin. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ ADOT announced freeway closures and lane restrictions for Mother's Day weekend on major routes including northbound SR 51, southbound I-17, and Loop 101 in effect May 8–11. Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time and use designated detours (such as alternate routes) to avoid delays. The Arizona Republic
