CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Art Gallery Royse Contemporary is showcasing its 'Storytelling' exhibit until June 8, featuring works in drawing, photography, mixed media and painting by eight Arizona artists. The exhibit at 7077 E. Main St. explores the influences and emotional connection of storytelling — it is open now and will conclude on June 8.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • During a four-hour budget meeting today, Councilman Adam Kwasman proposed shifting two staffers from Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s office to support council operations— a move the mayor called punitive as she accused him of undermining her authority. Four council members voted for the motion while three opposed it, and City Manager Greg Caton will reclassify the positions before the $2.2 billion budget vote on May 20.  Scottsdale Progress

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Three major projects are underway in the East Valley. LG Energy Solutions is constructing a battery plant in Queen Creek expected to begin production mid-2026—an industrial park in Tempe will finish mid-2026 and a sustainable luxury townhome community in Scottsdale will complete in August with residents moving in that fall.  The Arizona Republic

  • Yesterday, the Diamondbacks beat the Dodgers 3-0 when pitcher Corbin Burnes threw seven scoreless innings and Eugenio Suarez hit his 12th homer — the team now prepares to clinch the series today as Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin faces D-backs' Zac Gallen.  Scottsdale Independent
