  • The Larry Fitzgerald Foundation celebrated its 15th anniversary on April 28 with a sold-out fundraiser at Dominick’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale—raising funds for youth education, breast cancer awareness, and underserved communities. The event also featured live and silent auctions, a national anthem performance, and appearances by local leaders and NFL players.  City Sun Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mr. Charlie’s Told Me So — a popular vegan fast-food chain that went viral on TikTok after singer Lizzo taste tested its menu — will open 18 locations across Arizona, with the first restaurant launching in Scottsdale later in 2025. The chain was started in Los Angeles in 2022 by founders Taylor McKinnon, Aaron Haxton and Charlie Kim.  The Arizona Republic

CRIME NEWS

  • L & L Investments LLC, which ran fraudulent sober living homes, was ordered on May 8 to pay more than $34 million in fines and restitution — including $30.2 million for AHCCCS and a $4 million penalty — after its conviction by Maricopa County Superior Court for defrauding Arizona's Medicaid program, officials said.  Scottsdale Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Camp Taliesin West will run this summer with in-person and virtual sessions for K–12 students at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, where trained museum educators lead classes on architecture, art and design. Fees will range from $40 to $400 per session and include lunch and air-conditioned spaces—scholarships are available through the foundation’s Community Access Program.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona water officials say that if a deal with Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming is not reached, cuts in Colorado River water will force changes like less lawn watering and more recycled water use. The state has asked lawmakers for $1M for legal steps and Governor Hobbs said upper basin states must also cut usage—this dispute may hurt the local economy.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA recalled ready-to-eat foods from Fresh & Ready Foods LLC sold in Arizona and other states from April 18 to April 28 after a listeria outbreak led to 10 hospitalizations. Health officials urge people not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled products marked with use-by dates (April 22nd to May 19th).  The Arizona Republic
  • Local pet professionals from the Arizona Humane Society and a Scottsdale vet say pet owners should take steps to protect pets from rising summer heat. They advise keeping pets indoors during peak warmth and ensuring they are well-hydrated—simple tips that help prevent heat illness.  ABC15 Arizona
