GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale City Council is divided after a poll scored its culture at 13 out of 100—Councilman Barry Graham says the team still gets work done despite growing discord. Four council members who formed a voting bloc in January pushed a conservative agenda that critics say has undermined efforts by Mayor Lisa Borowsky—members report lost programs and a shift in council priorities at a recent retreat. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A study of 85 seniors showed that pets give love and help fight loneliness, with 84% saying a pet gives companionship and nearly half saying pets keep them busy (33% said money is tight, 24% struggled with care, and 20% worried about pet plans after they are gone). The Arizona Pet Project and AllThrive 365, backed by Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, will use these findings to build new supports like mobile veterinary clinics and pet food help. - ➤ Arizona State University's Joshua Anbar, who led Arizona’s part of the CDC 2025 Autism Report, said the study shows one in 31 children nationwide and one in 32 in Arizona are diagnosed by age eight, which means future classroom support may need to change.
