- ➤ North Scottsdale United Methodist Church will host Compassion Camp for children from June 23rd to 27th at 11735 N. Scottsdale Road. Campers can join the morning session from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for $50 or the extended-day session until 3:00 p.m. for $200—each session including yoga, crafts, and nature play along with a Diaper Mission Project collecting diapers or $20 donations for local families in need. - ➤ Finish Line Auto Club, a California firm, has submitted documents to the City of Scottsdale to build a 125,000-square-foot car condo facility with a 13,000-square-foot social club at the site now occupied by Fender’s Scottsdale headquarters—promising new garage sizes and enhanced amenities. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Arizona increased by 9 cents last week ahead of Memorial Day weekend - Maricopa County averaged $3.63 per gallon while Yuma County was at $2.96. The state’s average rose to 19 cents above the national rate after high holiday demand and a California refinery fire, and experts say prices will likely climb further in metro areas. KJZZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The rebranded Go Get IT event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov 14 at Scottsdale Community College, giving about 275 junior high and high school students a chance to learn hands-on IT skills and meet professionals in the field. The event offers a $1,000 scholarship for past attendees who will enroll full-time in Fall 2025 and is produced by MITI— a collaboration among local community colleges. Arizona Digital Free Press

- ➤ The Greer Fire has burned over 10,500 acres in Eastern Arizona and forced evacuations in Eagar and Springerville as firefighters from Scottsdale and other departments work to contain it — meanwhile, the futures of 3,400 probationary Forest Service workers remain uncertain beyond May 23 due to earlier workforce cuts. A new report said a 22-year-old construction worker fell 63 feet at VAI Resort last December when workers used a ladder with a scissor lift. ABC15 Arizona
