- ➤ ASU water law professor Rhett Larson, speaking at a town hall meeting + Granite Reef Senior Center yesterday, said Scottsdale has ample water but faces a shortage of affordable water for residents. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ Fearless Kitty Rescue is hosting an open house on Sunday, June 7 at its new Medical Center to showcase expanded lifesaving services for cats and kittens. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 11881 Saguaro Blvd, and donations of kitten food (dry or wet) are welcomed. City Sun Times
- ➤ Lauren Lauder was named the new Executive Director at Royal Oaks on April 6. An Arizona native with a strong background in healthcare leadership (including roles as CEO at Spectrum Healthcare Group and COO at Copa Health), she guided the retirement community into its next chapter. - ➤ OdySea Aquarium celebrates 10 years this summer with a birthday bash from May 23 to Sept. 6 that offers immersive exhibits, surprise giveaways, and exclusive behind the scenes tours from May 30 to July 24 (weekdays at 2 p.m., weekends at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.). - ➤ Scottsdale native Cam Coraggio was named to Hastings College (Nebraska) dean’s list for the spring semester after earning a GPA of 3.7 or above, joining 327 students from 21 states and eight countries. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ Scottsdale launched its first combined fire — police K-9 search-and-rescue team to find lost hikers along more than 300 miles of trails. The team helped locate a hiker last weekend in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and will assist neighboring communities if needed. ABC15 Arizona
- ➤ Arizona residents in line at food banks say new SNAP rules have made reapplying difficult as DES now requires phone interviews and more frequent proof of eligibility (over half of SNAP recipients have been cut), while officials say the changes align with federal projections. KJZZ
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A new Realtor.com report shows nearly one-third of Phoenix listings saw price cuts in April, driven by a nine-month high 6.51% mortgage rate. Other markets with reduced prices include Tampa, San Antonio, Denver and Portland. ABC15 Arizona

- ➤ Mike Soroka pitched six strong innings as the Diamondbacks beat the Giants 3-2 on Wednesday in San Francisco with Geraldo Perdomo’s sacrifice fly giving them the lead. The win marked their 10th victory in 11 games — extending a five-game streak. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ The Diamondbacks swept the Giants 3-2 on May 27 at Oracle Park, improving to 31-24 as key plays offset Nolan Arenado's removal with right groin tightness (he is day-to-day) while manager Torey Lovullo praised the team's execution. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Corbin Carroll overcame a broken hand before spring training and is having one of his best seasons for the Diamondbacks.
