CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale artist Wendy Trattner opened her new art studio and gallery in Old Town Scottsdale where she shows her paintings that mix emotion and physics. She left an engineering job at MIT to pursue art and now invites visitors to explore her creative process—marking a fresh chapter in the local arts scene.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Scottsdale’s 4th of July Celebration at WestWorld, 16601 N. Pima Road will feature fireworks, a Kids Corner with summer games and a history walking tour starting in 1885, a bull riding rodeo and a slider eating championship that opens with a presentation of colors. Tickets cost $50 for adult indoor backyard barbecue, $30 for children aged 6-10, $25 for indoor access and $20 for Fireworks Only + doors open at 5 p.m. as the fireworks show starts at 9 p.m.  Scottsdale Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Scottsdale student Tristian Russell earned dean’s list honors for the Spring term at Trine University and is pursuing a bachelor’s in criminal justice. The school required 12 credit hours and a GPA between 3.5 and 3.749 to qualify (criteria that highlight his academic progress).  Scottsdale Independent

  • Scottsdale City Councilman Barry Graham said our roads have become deplorable after deteriorating three to four years following repair work using substandard materials — prompting calls for improved paving practices.  Scottsdale Independent
