COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United Food Bank announced the return of its eighth annual Summer of a Million Meals fundraiser to raise $200,000 and provide one million meals for local families facing rising summer costs—12News and Fry’s Food Stores have joined the campaign. Telethons will be held on July 10 and Aug. 14 while a Food Fight competition lets businesses boost donations as part of the ongoing effort to ease hunger.  Arizona Digital Free Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pagoda Lane owners bought Scottsdale Marketplace and are rebranding it as Chapin House with upgrades underway near Fat Ox (6310 N. Scottsdale Road). The family will officially launch the space in fall and operate from (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays).  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Flexjet is breaking ground on a new private terminal at Scottsdale Airport that will include a 9,000 square-foot terminal—9,500 square feet of office space—and 34,000 square feet for hangar space. The $36 million facility is scheduled to open in late 2026.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky told about 200 town hall attendees on May 29 that she will order a parking study before any new garages are built in Old Town—she said the study will review local demand, alternatives, and cost—and several business owners and residents expressed mixed views on the plan.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Two-time champion Aaron Beverly returns to defend his title at TPC Scottsdale from June 2–4—today round 1 starts at 10 a.m. and a field of 54 players will compete for a $25,000 purse, a $7,500 winner's check, and 700 Cisco Cup Series points.  Scottsdale Independent
