- ➤ Four men accused of assaulting former Coyotes player Paul Bissonnette at a Scottsdale restaurant in November 2024 faced plea deals, with one defendant’s lawyer asking to reduce his charges to simple assault and probation (prosecutors set decisions for early July). The Arizona Republic
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale student Maxwell Gibson was named to the dean’s list at Westminster College for spring after earning a 3.6 GPA or higher—he is one of 364 recognized students and a Chaparral High School graduate majoring in accounting and finance. Scottsdale Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation announced that parts of I-17 and Loop 101 are closed this weekend, with I-17 ramps to Loop 101 shut from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work and Loop 101 lanes narrowed, so drivers should allow extra travel time — using detour routes such as exits at Rose Garden Lane and Deer Valley Road — as schedules may change due to weather. - ➤ Drivers in Scottsdale are urged to keep items like food, medications, aerosol cans, and electronics out of parked cars today as summer heat can make a vehicle reach up to 140 degrees; experts say even 10 minutes inside can raise the temperature by 20 degrees.
