COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At the end of April (during National Volunteer Month), about 100 Mark-Taylor Residential employees helped prepare food packages for Feed My Starving Children, an effort that produced 20,736 meals (enough to feed nearly 60 children daily). Their iNSPIRE program is set to lead to more company-wide volunteer events later this year.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • Fox Restaurant Concepts will open The Henry at Scottsdale 101 in North Scottsdale in summer 2026. The new 7,000-square-foot restaurant will replace a demolished Denny’s and offer indoor-outdoor dining (featuring a walk-up coffee bar, open kitchen, and private dining room).  City Sun Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Five Arizona police officers died on duty in the past 15 months—four were shot while responding to calls and one was killed in a vehicle collision, with investigations and legal proceedings ongoing.  The Arizona Republic

  • Scottsdale Arts announced Dr. Ceci Moss will start on July 14 as the new director and chief curator of SMoCA at 7374 E. Second Street. The curator brings 20 years of experience from roles including director at the Mandeville Art Gallery — her appointment aims to strengthen the museum's contemporary art programs.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill that would have allowed lawsuits against public school and college teachers by making them personally liable for alleged antisemitic conduct — she said the measure unfairly targeted public educators and that current state systems already address complaints.  KJZZ

  • ABC15 Smart Shopper has compiled summer staycation deals that offer Arizona locals discounts and extra credits at top hotels and resorts—deals include percentage off multi-night stays, dining credits, and waived fees with options from Gila River to The Westin Tempe.
