COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 7,200 local Girl Scouts sold over 2.7 million cookie packages during the cookie season from Jan. 19 to March 2 — the funds supported camps, STEM programs, and leadership opportunities for girls.  City Sun Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kroger will launch a free ice cream promotion at Fry’s supermarkets starting June 20—when customers can download a coupon for any Kroger brand ice cream, including new summer flavors. The offer is limited to 92,000 pints and the coupon will expire on July 4.  The Arizona Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Scottsdale Philharmonic will begin its 2025-26 season with concerts on Sundays Sept. 28, Nov. 16, Dec. 7, Feb. 15, March 22, May 3 and June 28 at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church (6300 E. Bell Rd.) in Scottsdale, held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The independently run orchestra is offering discounted season tickets from $114 to $199 while individual tickets are $20 to $35 online.  Scottsdale Independent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On June 1, Scottsdale celebrated the complete funding and debt repayment of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, which now fully belongs to the city's citizens. The preserve covers 30,500 acres — about 25% of city land — and features 11 trailheads with 230 miles of non-motorized trails for future generations.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Scottsdale was named the top destination for bachelorette parties by Yelp because the city offers a blend of desert charm, stylish resorts and lively nightlife. The blog post highlights local spots such as Hotel Valley Ho for poolside fun, The Scott Resort & Spa for pampering, and TPC Scottsdale for golf outings.  The Arizona Republic
  • Il Bosco, Trevor's, and Cibo are finalists in the metro Phoenix 2025 Best Pizza Poll after over 5,000 votes were cast. Voting remains open until midnight on June 22 (the winner will be announced on June 24).  The Arizona Republic

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chandler Valley Christian High School’s Rocket League team finished an undefeated season by winning the PlayVS Cup national title—securing the win over Texas powerhouse Prosper High School. The team, led by coach Jon Hunsaker and captain Chase DeBoer, also claimed the AIA state championship.  The Arizona Republic
  • Arizona Republic readers named Larry Fitzgerald the most iconic Arizona sports figure—he beat Pat Tillman and other top stars by winning vote margins of 1,631 and 191, and his 17 seasons with the Cardinals set him up to be considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2026.  The Arizona Republic
