CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three suspects from Glendale—Ali Ahmad 29, Delia Rocha 32 and Mario Garcia Rodriguez 33—were arrested on felony charges after the Arizona Department of Public Safety led Operation Escalading Switch, which recovered 29 stolen vehicles and other items linked to an organized theft ring in the Valley on June 17. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new COVID-19 strain—nicknamed razor blade throat for causing severe pain when swallowing—has become more common nationwide, but Arizona reported only 608 cases last week. Dr. Joel Terriquez said the strain causes discomfort without making patients sicker. KJZZ
- ➤ Congressman David Schweikert has introduced the MCED Screening Coverage Act that will let Medicare seniors use noninvasive tests to detect many types of cancer (a measure designed to save lives) as the bill moves through Congress.
