- ➤ Arizona Humane Society is hosting a free pet adoption event today where all pets come with no adoption fee, spaying, neutering, microchipping, and a kit of Hill’s Science Diet Food. The shelter had 385 adoptions at its June 28th event (with 250 more pets now in care) and expects more animals to join over the Fourth of July weekend. KTAR
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale Fire crews responded at 3 p.m. Friday to a community pool—located near Bell Road and Thompson Peak Parkway—after reports of a possible drowning, and they found a young child unresponsive who was then taken to a hospital in serious condition. ABC15 Arizona

- ➤ Three Arizona pizzerias earned national recognition when 50 Top Pizza released its USA 2025 rankings. Craft 64 in Scottsdale and Chandler climbed from No. 32 to No. 26, Penelope Pizza in Tucson ranked No. 42, and Pomo Pizzeria in Scottsdale and Phoenix joined the Excellent list—judges praised the quality ingredients, wood-fired pizzas and overall service. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Biologists from the Arizona Game and Fish Department tested a new protocol that relocated beavers to man-made dams — at least two beavers became state employees in the process. This trial helped restore wetland habitats and builds on methods used by other states to manage land issues. KJZZ
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale Quarter is under new ownership as FalconEye Ventures, led by tech entrepreneur George Kurtz, acquired the 755,000-square-foot property and partnered with Vestar to manage the mixed-use site. The two companies will begin a $100 million improvement program in late 2025 to upgrade retail, dining, office, and residential facilities+ enhance tenant curation and infrastructure.
