Good morning, Scottsdale.

Arizona education advocates sent a joint letter to Congress asking for a 20% raise in Pell Grant awards and better support for student basic needs as FAFSA completions dropped nearly 35% for the class of 2024 + many community college students face food and housing challenges.

The coalition of over 30 groups said better funding would help more students finish school and strengthen local economies, especially in underserved areas.

Scottsdale Fire Department opened its new $22 million training center earlier this year, where recruits face flashover training in a flashover hut — conditions that mimic near 1,000-degree fires — and learn essential fire science in a controlled setting.

The center was built to replace retiring firefighters and support the expanding ambulance program, ensuring that the department is ready for future demands.

Professional and retired athletes have chosen Paradise Valley because it offers large lots, sunny weather and low taxes—benefits that protect their privacy and deliver more value than coastal homes.

Many residents use LLCs to shield their identities while enjoying a lifestyle with ample space and year-round golf.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals will play a series-deciding game today (4:10 p.m. EDT in Phoenix) as both teams look to win the series, with starting pitchers (Michael Lorenzen for the Royals and Anthony DeSclafani for the Diamondbacks) on the mound.

Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks was named the starting second baseman for the All-Star Game after fans gave him 70 percent of the vote, beating Tommy Edman.

He will play on Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta — marking his third All-Star appearance and making him the first Diamondback to earn consecutive starts at his position.
