ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 65-year-old man from Gilbert died Monday after being attacked by bees while using a lift to remove stucco at a Scottsdale independent living facility, police said — he received CPR after being pulled off the lift and was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. as authorities investigate the incident.  Scottsdale Independent

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the 39th Annual Sterling Awards to honor standout local business organizations – current Chamber members must apply online by July 21. A free virtual workshop was held on July 9 to help with submissions and the awards event will take place Nov. 20 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort with finalists kept confidential until the ceremony.  City Sun Times
  • Barry’s will expand its Scottsdale studio by opening a 17-spot LIFT studio that focuses on 50-minute strength training and upgraded locker rooms with modern amenities—adding a full-service Fuel Bar that serves pre- and post-workout clean-label shakes. The expansion builds on the current Red Room classes and will open in winter.  City Sun Times
  • Celebrity restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump will open her second Wolf by Vanderpump restaurant on the rooftop of Caesars Republic Scottsdale this winter — a 6,500-square-foot venue built with HCW that will offer a globally inspired menu and sweeping views of Camelback Mountain. Construction starts this week — and the restaurant’s design, developed with Nick Alain, will feature desert-inspired aesthetics and bold visual storytelling.  City Sun Times

  • Scottsdale City Attorney Sherry Scott resigned abruptly last week after the new council took office—officials offered no explanation for her departure.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scottsdale Mini Dental Implants will give a veteran free dental implant care valued at over $20,000 — the public can nominate eligible heroes by sharing a short story until August 31.  Scottsdale Independent

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A WalletHub study ranked Scottsdale, Chandler and Gilbert among the top five US cities for renters based on rental affordability and quality of life; only Overland Park ranked higher among 182 evaluated locations. Scottsdale scored high for job availability and a smooth driving environment — while Chandler featured limits on security deposits and spacious homes.  KTAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • At a Monday press conference, the Phoenix Suns' rookies Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea explained their new jersey numbers—Maluach chose No. 10 as he was the 10th pick, Fleming picked No. 20 to reflect his age and current path, and Brea selected No. 14 to honor his brother's birthday and his draft position. They also added that building strong team chemistry remains a top goal as they begin their NBA journey.  The Arizona Republic
