  • The Scottsdale Fire Fighters Association will host the 26th Annual Behind the Flames Scottsdale Firefighter Charities Dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at Mastro’s City Hall on 6991 E. Camelback Road to honor the Scottsdale Firefighter of the Year and celebrate local heroes. KTAR Radio & TV host Mike Broomhead will emcee the evening — recognizing honorees Max Ashton, Autumn Curiel, and D.J. Foster for their contributions.  Arizona Digital Free Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arizona is offering full scholarships & accelerated nursing programs that help career changers become nurses in 12 to 18 months amid a severe nursing shortage. The state has invested $43.1 million through five universities to provide 900 scholarships covering tuition and fees, and awardees must work in Arizona for four years.  Arizona Digital Free Press
