ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale Fire Department responded to a brush fire at a construction site near Lone Mountain and Scottsdale roads this morning — the fire, sparked when a fast-moving spark ignited dry vegetation despite safety measures, burned about 50 feet by 50 feet of brush and was fully extinguished after crews spent an hour on mop-up operations. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale police arrested 18-year-old Lebron Rogers and two juveniles on Tuesday after linking them to a late June double homicide near 114th Street and Shea Boulevard where Ramon Moraga was killed and Nadia Mysliwiec died at a hospital (the suspects face murder and armed robbery charges). - ➤ Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice will be shown in Scottsdale in a limited four-show run at Theatre Artists Studio; shows take place on Friday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. The production is directed by Beau Heckman and includes special stop-action matinees (led by Artistic Director Keath Hall) on Saturday and Sunday. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ HonorHealth launched a new Artificial Heart Program that uses the HeartMate 3 device to help patients whose hearts can no longer pump enough blood—doctors said the program is expected to improve survival rates as heart failure cases are projected to rise. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ Huxley Scottsdale, a 192-unit multifamily community in North Scottsdale, was sold on July 29 to Pillar Communities and Private Portfolio Group. The sale marks the company's 36th Phoenix-area acquisition, and the property—completed by HSR in 2024—features natural stone finishes, a hidden lounge, a rooftop sky deck with Sonoran Desert views, a pool, spa, fitness center, yoga room and dog park. - ➤ Scottsdale United Methodist Church in Old Town has filed an application with the city to build 82 workforce apartments—mixing one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom units on its 4.8 acre site—at 4140 N. Miller Road to help boost its flagging congregation. Scottsdale Independent
