SPORTS NEWS

  • On July 30 the Diamondbacks traded Eugenio Suarez for first baseman Tyler Locklear and pitching prospects Juan Burgos and Hunter Cranton. Early reviews from major outlets rated Seattle’s deal as stronger while noting Arizona received a moderate return (Locklear is ranked ninth among Seattle’s prospects).  The Arizona Republic
  • A federal judge approved the House v NCAA settlement that took effect on July 1, allowing Division 1 colleges to directly pay student athletes up to $20.5 million per institution and allocating nearly $2.8 billion in retroactive NIL compensation.
