BUSINESS NEWS

  • Arizona Party Bike won a Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best award — given to fewer than 1 percent of listings for outstanding traveler reviews collected from April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025. Owner Robert Mayer started the business in 2014 and added a Scottsdale ride in 2015 after a law allowed drinks on the bikes.  Scottsdale Independent

CRIME NEWS

  • Scottsdale Police arrested 22-year-old Aiden Cornish and 20-year-old Trent Kennedy on July 23 for five burglaries in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley that stole about $100,000 in kitchen appliances — investigators linked a GMC truck with camera evidence and later recovered 10 appliances valued at about $65,000 while working to return them to their owners.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Aiden Cornish, 22, and Trent Kennedy, 20, were arrested by Scottsdale police on July 23 for burglarizing five homes in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley and stealing kitchen appliances worth over $100,000—video evidence from traffic cameras and a storage facility linked them to the crimes.  KTAR

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 2025 Dreamy Draw Music Festival will run on Nov. 7-8 at the Scottsdale Civic Center near Indian School Road and 75th Street and will feature nearly 30 acts including The Lumineers and Vampire Weekend. The two-day event will expand its capacity to 20,000 and offer new premium ticket options like Artist Pass and Cabana—features designed to enhance the outdoor experience.  KTAR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Earlier this week, the S’edav Va’aki Museum announced that its Teen Volunteer Program will continue for 2025—2026 and that teens aged fourteen to seventeen can apply to volunteer starting Monday, Aug. 18. Supported by a new AmeriCorps VISTA member, the program will offer professional development, networking, and hands-on experience with exhibits and outdoor educational programs.  Scottsdale Independent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Desert Foothills Land Trust has launched an August Match Challenge—donations made by Aug. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 to help protect Sonoran Desert habitat and local cultural heritage. This effort will also fund free educational programs that connect residents to the desert.  City Sun Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center conducted a Phase II trial that tested a new treatment for advanced melanoma patients who no longer respond to standard immunotherapies+ the study found that about one in three patients had tumor shrinkage and 15% experienced complete responses with mostly mild side effects; researchers hope the results will lead to FDA approval soon.  Arizona Digital Free Press
