  • Scottsdale Leadership is accepting nominations for its 2025 Spirit of Community Leadership Awards, which honor leaders with the Drinkwater Leadership Award, Frank W. Hodges Alumni Achievement Award, Frances Young Trailblazer Award and Jenkins Youth Leadership Award—nominations close Sept. 10. The four winners will be recognized at an event from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.  Scottsdale Independent

  • C2 Tactical is an indoor shooting range that has given more than $300K to help local charities since 2013. Its Scottsdale and Tempe sites support groups—such as Spike’s K9 Fund and Veterans of Foreign Wars—by offering donations, free classes, and gear.  Scottsdale Independent
  • A Scottsdale financial tech firm founder pleaded guilty in a federal fraud case over COVID-era relief loans and is set to appear for rearraignment on Monday. Desert Diamond Arena completed a $42 million renovation with new spaces opening this weekend while the Valley faced dangerous heat earlier in the week.  ABC15 Arizona

HEALTH NEWS

  • As hot weather rises, UnitedHealthcare advises Scottsdale residents to follow heat safety tips such as taking swimming lessons, wearing life jackets, reapplying sunscreen every two hours, and drinking plenty of water—parents should also protect infants and children with extra care. The measures aim to reduce the risks of drowning and heat illness during outdoor activities.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Firefighter Tyler Packer survived a near-fatal ambulance crash on April 8, 2022 — he suffered many injuries and spent 10 days in a coma — and after months of rehabilitation at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, he has returned to work with the Salt River Fire Department and welcomed his daughter Oaklee.  Arizona Digital Free Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Phoenix REALTORS said that Greater Phoenix home sales in June grew by 3% in closed deals, new listings jumped by 12%, and the median single-family price held at $480,000. In Scottsdale, the median home price climbed 7% to $1.23 million—new listings rose 8%, closed sales increased by 5.4%, and pending sales fell by 6.1%.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • After a 1-11 season at Purdue, defensive backs Kyndrich Breedlove and Nyland Green transferred to ASU and unexpectedly met on the same floor of a Scottsdale hotel—only 10 rooms apart—while both look forward to a fresh start with their new team in Tempe.  The Arizona Republic
