- ➤ Scottsdale has named Jenna Kohl as its new preserve director, and she will begin on Sept 22 to care for the McDowell Sonoran Preserve — a vast area with over 225 miles of trails. Kohl previously led operations at DC Ranch and managed services for Anthem, experience that makes her well suited for the role. Arizona Digital Free Press

- ➤ Scottsdale Arts and Cattle Track Arts Compound are joining forces to launch a creative partnership that will boost art programs by managing key parts of the Cattle Track facility while keeping current studio artists and residents in place. The partnership includes ArtSpark—a career-development program offering a stipend, studio space, and courses for emerging artists—with plans for new gallery spaces and an event on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m.; applications close Sept. 15. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ HonorHealth became the first U.S. health care system to use the Spur Peripheral Retrievable Stent System to treat narrowed below-the-knee arteries by widening blockages with a balloon and offering temporary support without a permanent implant. Doctors Hasan Aldailami and Mitri Khoury performed the first procedure at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center in May — the treatment aims to improve blood flow and help patients avoid amputation. - ➤ Arizona State football is ranked No. 11 in the preseason AP poll for 2025 after last season’s Big 12 championship win, its highest rank since 1998, but some fans worry that high expectations may lead to a letdown given past mixed records.
