Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 12th of August.
Good morning, Scottsdale.
🏘️ Community
The Arizona Builders Alliance will host a free Veteran Construction Trade Hiring Expo at its training center on Aug.
19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., connecting veterans with employers through interviews, apprenticeship opportunities + training. A free resume review workshop is scheduled for Aug. 13 at the same site.
🎓 Education
Six Maricopa County school districts closed 11 schools at the end of last school year because of falling student enrollment.
Experts say declining birth rates (lack of affordable housing and broad school choice) will likely prompt more districts to consider campus closures.

Federal authorities are tracking the outbreak and urge consumers to wash fresh vegetables thoroughly.

Horizon football players received extra college offers this week.
Longsanpper Owen Rossman and linebacker CJ Battle earned offers from Ottawa University while safety Garrett Kerr accepted one from Salt River Junior College (offensive lineman Liam McNeal had picked up an offer from Texas Tech last week).
