- ➤ Fresh Start Women’s Foundation will host its annual Sip & Soirée — a fundraiser luncheon celebrating the strength and empowerment of Arizona women — on Saturday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa to raise funds for services that support women and children on their path to self-sufficiency. - ➤ Survivors of a $2.8 billion fraud say fake sober living homes promised help for addiction but gave only a mattress and little care—leaving many vulnerable, including Native Americans, as over 100 people have been indicted and state agencies work to fix the system. KJZZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Department of Housing said the state will add $5 million to the Arizona Is Home program — a move that gives first-time homebuyers help with down payments, closing costs, and lower mortgage rates. The program already helped more than 500 buyers and will soon support about 1,000 households with grants up to $9,000 in Pima County and a percentage of the purchase price in Maricopa County.
