COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lexie’s Voice, a Scottsdale nonprofit, will open Lexie’s Ranch this fall to offer a therapeutic day program for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities—its 1.32-acre site near Cactus and Scottsdale roads features an activity barn, inclusive playground, walking track and petting zoo with horses, Highland cows and chickens. The ranch will serve up to 12 people daily, provide after-school equine therapy and scholarship support while hosting inclusive community events.  City Sun Times

CRIME NEWS

  • The Arizona Corporation Commission revoked Scottsdale investor Darien Euclid Bonney’s license and ordered him to pay $1.98 million in restitution and a $30,000 penalty—action taken after he sold unapproved investments and misrepresented short-term loan deals as risk-free—while FINRA had already barred him in August 2022.  Scottsdale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Italian Association of Arizona will host its 10th annual Italian Festival at Old Town Scottsdale Waterfront on Oct. 25th from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Oct. 26th from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., where visitors will enjoy Italian cuisine, over 30 wines and live entertainment while Salvatore Ferragamo Jr. will make a brief appearance on Sunday. The festival will be followed by an exclusive dinner on Oct. 27th at Virtu Honest Craft for 50 guests with part of the proceeds going toward building a future Italian Culture Center.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Scottsdale Unified board member faced backlash after calling a district employee morbidly obese during a public meeting on August 18th — the comment drew criticism from local parents and community members who said it undermined nutrition services. Critics noted that the remark targeted both the employee and the program designed to help children, intensifying calls for accountability.  KJZZ

  • Phoenix Suns rookie Rasheer Fleming told The Arizona Republic he will focus on strong defense while guarding key players like Devin Booker as he earns his minutes this season.
