  • Scottsdale police are searching for 35-year-old suspect Matthew Dieringer, described as manipulative and charismatic, in connection with the targeted killing of 67-year-old Frank Quaranta found dead inside his Scottsdale home near 68th Street and McDowell Road on Sept. 1 — authorities advise against approaching him and ask anyone with tips to call 911.  Scottsdale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Arts has partnered with Cattle Track Arts Compound to launch the ArtSpark career-development program for emerging artists using a relocated historic barn as its hub—submissions began on July 28 with a Sept 15 deadline and the first cohort will kick off on Sept 26 at 6 p.m. The partnership will also introduce an Artists-in-Residence program for established national and international artists to share their expertise through talks and workshops.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Scottsdale’s Hospitality District saw a big change as Gem Ray said Old Town entered a new honeymoon phase with better service and tighter dress codes. New spots like Shiv, Maya Nightclub, The Kill Club, F16 Lounge and Sexy Roman opened this summer—bringing a more polished nightlife to the area.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • Scottsdale was named one of the top cities to retire by a WalletHub study that evaluated 182 cities on affordability, quality of life and activities for older adults—scoring highest for its weather, low crime rate and many retiree activities.  The Arizona Republic
  • A mobile gym called DoggDash offers indoor treadmill workouts—helping dogs avoid Arizona’s extreme heat while staying fit. Owner Kyle Meluch designed the van with self-powered treadmills so pets like Jan enjoy healthy exercise.  ABC15 Arizona

  • Manager Torey Lovullo said he will require tougher high-intensity drills next spring to fix the team's errors. The Diamondbacks, who have improved with new players, will play the Red Sox today at Chase Field at 5:10 p.m.—and they aim to boost their defense for a stronger season.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Arizona Diamondbacks will face the Boston Red Sox today at 8:10 p.m. EDT after Geraldo Perdomo recorded four hits in Friday's 10 to 5 win over Boston. Brandon Pfaadt is set to pitch in the teams' second matchup this season—Perdomo's strong play may boost Arizona’s chances.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Yesterday, Saguaro beat Chaparral 23-10 in a tough rivalry game that saw second-half plays by running back Ty Strozier and defensive back Quinton Simms—key moments that helped the team overcome an early challenge.
