  • The North Scottsdale United Methodist Church will hold a pet blessing and St. Francis of Assisi Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 5 starting at 8 a.m.—families can bring cats, dogs, and rabbits for a blessing and later join a worship service at 10 a.m. where children will make chew toys from recycled, pet-safe materials for local shelters.  Scottsdale Independent

CRIME NEWS

  • Phoenix police arrested 35-year-old Matthew Dieringer after a tip on Sept. 6 led officers to spot him near 13th Street and Indian School Road — he is a suspect in the Scottsdale killing of 67-year-old Frank Quaranta and was taken into custody for a probation violation warrant at 8:58 a.m.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Scottsdale Fire Department announced it is planning to build a new ambulance annex near Fire Station 601 that will include a dormitory, dining space, bathrooms, and three vehicle bays to house two ambulances and a supervisor vehicle — the city will host an open house on Sept. 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eldorado Community Center to share project details.  KTAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, Sept.7, the Cardinals faced the Saints at the Caesars Superdome while quarterback Kyler Murray was added to the injury report for an illness but was expected to start since no injury designation was issued. The team, coming off an 8-9 season, was a 6.5-point favorite in Week 1 & the game provided key insights into their season outlook.  The Arizona Republic
