- ➤ Scottsdale Community College launched its first-ever bachelor's program in business administration in management with a record enrollment of 474 students as classes began on Aug. 25. - ➤ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 50th anniversary season—featuring Broadway stars Lea Salonga, Jeremy Jordan and Cheyenne Jackson in upcoming shows. Jeremy Jordan will perform on Oct. 16 and 17 while Salonga will perform on Nov. 12 and Jackson will present his 'Signs of Life' tour on Feb. 1—continuing a long Broadway tradition. - ➤ Salt River Project and Google are teaming on a research project to test non-lithium ion long-duration energy storage for SRP’s grid—Google will fund part of the pilot projects and review key data. - ➤ The Arizona Department of Economic Security launched the CACTUS portal on Sunday, September 7 to help users file unemployment claims, track work searches, and upload documents—an effort aimed at cutting wait times for nearly 19,600 benefit recipients per week. ABC15 Arizona

- ➤ On Sept. 5 the Arizona Game and Fish Commission voted 3-2 to keep current quail hunting rules even though a state small game manager warned that drought has reduced quail reproduction and may hurt future populations. The commission will revisit the matter next spring while hunters get ready for the fall season opener on Oct. 17. The Arizona Republic
