CULTURE NEWS

  • For Halloween 2025, metro Phoenix offers scary attractions where visitors can experience Fear Farm — now relocating to Scottsdale with fresh themes such as Descent into Darkness and The Blood Shed from Sept. 19 to Nov. 2. Other attractions include Sanctum of Horror in Mesa — where guests explore an eerie family home and graveyard, Scarizona in Mesa with three new scare zones, 13th Floor Haunted House in Phoenix with a zombie game, and Nightfall at Old Tucson featuring a circus-style fright.  The Arizona Republic
  • Ravenscroft in Scottsdale is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a special lineup of acclaimed artists. The venue will host Ike Ramalho and Band on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. — Raul Yanez Quartet on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. with donations benefiting HART Pantry, and Marcos Varela Quartet on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., while also offering a Latin-inspired menu and beverages.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Fall 2025 brings a host of festivals and events across the Valley—Scottsdale’s WestWorld hosts a vintage market while Mesa, Phoenix, and Chandler offer food fairs, music concerts, and cultural celebrations scheduled from September through November, with choices ranging from free gatherings to ticketed experiences.  The Arizona Republic

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arizona Superintendent Tom Horne requested $180M from state lawmakers to expand the School Safety Program so schools can hire more officers once current funds expire - lawmakers will debate the proposal in the next session as schools plan to keep students safe.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arizona Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday on Prop. 211—a law that requires groups spending large sums on elections to disclose their donors—and the challengers argued that it violates a state privacy right while supporters maintained it protects voters’ right to know. The decision now rests with the seven-member court as it weighs constitutional rights against campaign transparency.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the Scottsdale Fire Department uses ice-filled body bags to cool heat stroke patients following Phoenix’s method—this new protocol was adopted after months of training and review of hospital data showing it cools patients faster and reduces risks of brain damage. Fire crews will use the technique during heat emergencies to help save lives.  KJZZ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Scottsdale was named a top retirement destination in a WalletHub study on affordability, lifestyle, and health care while also ranking as the most expensive retirement option—with an estimated annual cost of living of $81,525. Other studies reported Kingman as the only Arizona city favorable for retirees with $500K savings and Tucson among the most affordable, showing mixed factors for retiring in Arizona.  The Arizona Republic

  • Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty’s Global Real Estate sold a home at 6529 E. Camino de los Ranchos in Scottsdale for $2.39 million, a record price that breaks down to $824.71 per square foot. The home—spanning 2,898 square feet—has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and was sold on September 11th at 8:00 a.m.  Scottsdale Independent
