CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Public Art’s Photography in Translation exhibition is open until Sept. 30 at the Civic Center Library and shows work by artists who use nontraditional techniques to share their personal and cultural stories—curated by Wendy Raisanen and co-curated by Claire A. Warden. The exhibit displays works that range from classic images to creative camera-less methods using glass or corn husks.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • Scottsdale Unified School District has approved five more schools for the Blue Zones Project, including its first high school, Coronado. School officials submitted applications showing steps to boost student health—efforts that continue to evolve to make healthy choices easier.  Scottsdale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Scottsdale City Council voted 6-1 on Sept. 12 to authorize a notice of claim to challenge a state law—known as the Axon bill—that bypassed a voter referendum and enabled Axon to build its global headquarters. Some council members said they were not ready to sue as negotiations continued over the project’s apartment plan.  KJZZ

  • Scottsdale-based CND Life Sciences is recruiting Arizona residents for a clinical study that uses skin biopsies to detect neurological markers in long COVID patients—research that may guide new treatments.  Scottsdale Independent
