  • Scottsdale nonprofit Community Celebrating Diversity is accepting nominations for its annual Diversity Champions Awards that honor local individuals who live by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of unity and respect. Nominations must be submitted by noon October 31 + the winners will be celebrated at a community dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2026 at The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.  Arizona Digital Free Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singers Josh Meloy and Ashley McBryde will perform at the second annual Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway event in November at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Meloy will take the stage from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Nov 28 while McBryde will perform at the same time on Nov 29—16601 N. Pima Road.  Scottsdale Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maricopa Community Colleges—the Valley's most affordable and accessible higher education system—offers more than 600 certificates and degrees, including 11 bachelor's degrees, to prepare students for high-demand fields such as social media marketing, business, trades, AI, nursing, and veterinary technology.   • Arizona mayors have united to form the Coalition for Protecting Arizona’s Lifeline—working to secure a sustainable water supply and defend the state’s share of the Colorado River via the Central Arizona Project.   • Camelot Homes broke ground at Villas II, the second phase of its 23-home lock-and-leave community inside the prestigious Seven Desert Mountain golf community + Mayor Lisa Borowsky and representatives from Desert Mountain Club and the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce attended the ceremony, marking the start of construction for the new development.  Arizona Digital Free Press
