BUSINESS NEWS

  • Construction began on the long-awaited Sprouts Farmer’s Market grocery store in Papago Plaza in north Scottsdale after a pre-site inspection on Sept. 8 and a partial meeting on Sept. 12—company spokesman Mychael Ramirez said the store will open toward the end of 2026.  Scottsdale Independent
  • YAM Properties announced Sonora Village—which sits at the Loop 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard corner—added two new restaurants and one retailer to its tenant lineup. The new tenants are Saigon District Pho and Boba, Veda Indian Restaurant, and Bricks and Mini Figs.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • A massive indoor pickleball facility will break ground in Scottsdale in the coming months and is set to be the world's largest, with CaliberCos Inc. — a local investor — and Pure Pickleball and Padel leading the project. The project submitted documents on Sept. 12 and the review period is expected to last three to six months before a 15-month construction process begins.  ABC15 Arizona

CULTURE NEWS

  • Soprano opera singer Ripalta Bufo will sing at the Italian Association of Arizona's 10th annual Italian Festival at the Old Town Waterfront on Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.—Bufo, a local resident and former Italia's Got Talent finalist, also performed at a Diamondbacks event in September.  Scottsdale Independent
  • The Historical League will hold the Turquoise and Treasures Celebration at the Scott Resort and Spa in Scottsdale at 3 p.m. Oct. 25 to honor one couple and seven Arizona leaders who will share their life stories and contributions on issues—such as homelessness, water conservation in farming and Alzheimer’s disease.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Holland Center will host its third Healthy Aging and Cognitive Health Lecture Series led by Brian Browne to teach local residents science-based ways to protect their brains from dementia and chronic disease. The free lectures will take place on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. — from November 21 through April 24, 2026 — at The Holland Center, 34250 N. 60th St.  City Sun Times

  • A new CoworkingCafe study shows that Valley cities vary for working parents and Scottsdale — the best in Arizona — ranked 14th nationally because it offers flexible jobs, affordable child care and ample green space for families.  Scottsdale Independent
