  • Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce will host Women of Valor, a new leadership program honoring female veterans. The event takes place on Nov. 6 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas at 11:30 a.m. and features four speakers sharing their transitions from military service to community leadership.  Scottsdale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will mark its 50th anniversary on November 1 with a concert by Alison Krauss and Union Station—tickets start at $275 and the event will feature a red-carpet arrival, cocktail hour and post-show festivities to support Scottsdale Arts.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Scottsdale Performing Arts Center celebrates its 50th anniversary today with an exhibition that shows art from the 1970s. Scottsdale Arts President and CEO Gerd Wuestemann said the center’s first two levels were built underground because local zoning rules capped building heights (not to improve acoustics).  Scottsdale Independent
  • WestWorld Art — Wine Experience will be held Nov. 8-9 on manicured polo fields at 16601 N. Pima Road in Scottsdale. The event will feature 100 nationally juried artists, 20 Arizona wineries, live music, interactive art demonstrations and gourmet food, with tickets priced at $40 presale and $50 at the gate on Nov. 8 and $35 presale and $45 at the gate on Nov. 9, including a commemorative glass and 10 tasting tickets.  Scottsdale Independent
