CULTURE NEWS

  • KTAR News has released an events calendar that shows a wide range of activities across metro Phoenix—festivals, concerts, sports events, and more scheduled through next year. The calendar also lists local Scottsdale events like Taco Fest at Salt River Fields and Canal Convergence on the waterfront.  KTAR
  • The Kierland Fine Art and Wine Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov 1-2 at Kierland Commons Main Street, 15210 N. Scottsdale Rd. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At their Sept. 30 meeting, the Scottsdale City Council updated the ADU zoning rules to comply with House Bill 2928 by allowing one attached and one detached ADU per single-family lot and easing restrictions near airports. The change limits ADU sizes to reduce impacts on water supply and sewer capacity—helping manage neighborhood resources.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sonora Quest Laboratories is working with the Arizona and National Kidney Foundations on the CKD Insight program to improve kidney disease testing for at-risk patients—physicians use standing orders for a Kidney Profile test so patients get screening without extra appointments and 2024 data showed up to 300,000 patients may be undiagnosed.  Arizona Digital Free Press

  • Arizona State University men’s basketball team has signed a single-season partnership with Scottsdale-based Pivot Culinary for performance-driven meals as the season begins this October.   • ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt has built a record for finishing close games—he turned a 31 to 28 deficit into a 35 to 31 win against Kansas and led a 73-yard drive for a comeback win over TCU—and his strong play has boosted the team's confidence this season.  The Arizona Republic
